Voodoo Amps Modified Talkbox – We got a couple more of these in this past week & as I walked by this morning on my way to make some coffee for everyone, I realized I never posted this. A couple weeks ago Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses / The Dead Daisies) posted a photo of his pedal board & this is the same circuit we are installing into the Framptone Talkbox.

IE: For those who own a Framptone Talkbox we can make it more reliable as well as making it full range along with a compression circuit to protect the driver (no more blown drivers) & also protect the fillings in your teeth, IE: this will not rattle your fillings loose so no worries that way.

Have a great St Patrick’s Day everyone!

Here are excerpts from a recent Rock Guitar Dailey interview Tony Conley did with Richard Fortus.

Tony Conley:  "Switching gears, I mention that Richard's playing first got my attention via Trace Davis of Voodoo Amplification - again, it was Fortus' work with Thin Lizzy that enthralled me. I asked him about his working relationship with his amp guru."

Richard Fortus: "Well, Trace has done so many things for me - he's Modded Marshalls for me, Modded Kelley Amps for me, Kelley. the designer from Selmer left the company and started his own shop. I'm a big fan of their amps, and Trace has done a couple of those for me, he's done Park amps, Vox - he's done a bunch of stuff for me.

I love his attention to detail. He was the guy that successfully cloned my main Marshall, which is a '73 100 watt Jose Modded amp that I bought from Mick Mars. "Motley Crue wasn't doing anything at that point, and Mick was getting rid of a bunch of gear. I was invited over to his house, and I played through a dozen or so amps, all Jose modded Marshalls.

I plugged into this one and just hit one chord, and it blew my head off. That was his #1 amp, his recording amp. It then became my main Marshall. I had been trying to have it cloned for a long time, and finally I came to Trace, and he cloned it - a fantastic job, and after that he became my 'go to' guy for amps.

We've designed an amp - we're going to release it as a signature model amp. Basically, the clean channel is based on my favorite Plexi which is a '68 PA, a 50 watt p.a. head, and it has a boost to it, as well. The other channel is based on that '73 Jose mod, and it also has a foot switchable boost for leads.
"It's almost like a four channel amp, but it's really just two channels. I am really excited about that amp!

It's what I've been using live, and it's like having my four favorite Marshalls in one box, which is amazing. I've been using it with Guns N' Roses for the last year, and we've been tweaking and refining it. Lately, I've been using it with a Strat, plugging straight into it on The Dead Daisies stuff, and it's just been amazing."

Feedback & Review from Craig Wells of Metal Church!  - "Dear Trace & Voodoo Amps; Got to let you know how very pleased I am with your awesome Custom HG-Jose Mod. Thanks for the great advice & help on getting a new awesome amp! I did not know where to start and consider myself fortunate to have your help. I love that this amp is perfect for writing & recording at my home DAW, for recording in the studio & I think will be awesome live when the time comes!

A Marshall 1959 SLP 100 watt with custom added half power switch for home use, 3 custom Gain Modes on a 3-way mini toggle, Gain-1 & Gain-2 Gain controls & a Master Volume, Push/Pull Bright Switch on Gain-1, your Bottom Control for bass fullness at low volume (or any volume!) & the crème de la crème Voodoos Custom Jose High-Gain Mod as well as your Hand Wired Tube Buffered FX Loop!

All I can say is "Wang Dang Sweet Plexi Tang"!!! I am sure Uncle Ted would approve of this multi talented monster head! I am blown away by all the awesome tones, crunchy, brown, hard rock & screaming wailing metal! And I would have never guessed the clean sound would be so spectacular. Big chime sound with golden tone, sounds like piano strings - never saw that coming. This is a single channel amp that does it all & sounds amazing while doing it, I guess I was just thinking it would be a one trick metal pony high gain killer, but man what a great surprise.

Easiest Marshall I have ever played, it really helps me play better, you really have a great knack for tuning a tube amp. The Midrange control is great, it gets fat & mean, not honky & scratchy, the Treble is crystal clear & not spike’y, really great & the Push/Pull Bright control really adds the JCM800 thump & it gives a crushing bite to my rhythm tone.

Thanks for the extra work you did recapping & it is great to see that your ideas on solving my needs worked out so great, it is awesome to have someone set you up for success which is what you have done for me! Got to run, Thanks again!" - Craig Wells of Metal Church

Please help us give a warm welcome Voodoo Endorsee & one of the creators of the early 80's Thrash Metal genre, Mr Craig Wells of Metal Church!

Metal Church is one of the favorite Thrash Metal bands on VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show”. Founded in 1980, Metal Church was formed in San Francisco, California & less than 1 year later relocated to Aberdeen, Washington briefly using the name "Shrapnel”. The band is credited as a formative influence on what we now know as the 80's Thrash Metal genre, which has influenced countless Modern Metal bands. Their eponymous first album "Metal Church" was released in 1984, just a few short months after Metallica's 1st album release "Kill'em All."

Craig Wells co-wrote many songs with fellow guitarist & founding member guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof. Craig is featured as a rhythm / lead guitarist on the following Metal Chruch records;

Metal Church

The Dark

Blessing In Disguise

The Human Factor

Hanging In The Balance

Stay tuned for Craig’s 1st Solo release!
